We can’t wait for you to share your passion with us! BMS Group Classes and Ensembles give students the opportunity to learn in a supportive and collaborative group setting. From group piano to musical theater and rock band, there is a class for everyone!
Group Classes
Group Piano Jr. A (Ages 5.0 - 7.6)
Saturdays 9:00 - 9:45am
BMS’s Group Piano Jr. A class provides students with an engaging and interactive introduction to the piano. Students will learn proper posture, develop technique, and learn to read music notation. In this class, students will perform solo and in groups in a supportive environment that includes exposure to a variety of musical traditions using the Faber "My First Piano" Book Lesson A!
Group Piano Jr. B (Ages 5.0 - 7.6)
Saturdays 10:00 - 11:00 am
BMS’s Group Piano Jr. B class continues young piano instruction using the Faber "My First Piano" Book Lesson C! This piano class explores more in-depth musical concepts and notation using a variety of traditional and beginner repertoire. This book is included with the cost of the class
NOTE: Students who have completed the Jr. B Group Piano class should next take the Sr. B Group Piano Class
Group Piano Sr. A (Ages 7.0 - 9.11)
Saturdays 11:00 - 12:00 pm
This Sr. A Group Piano class provides older beginner students with an engaging and interactive introduction to the piano. Students will learn proper posture, develop technique, and learn to read music notation. In this class, students will perform solo and in groups in a supportive environment that includes exposure to a variety of musical traditions using the Faber Primer Lesson Books! This book is included with the cost of the class

Group Piano Sr. B (Ages 7.0 - 9.11)
Saturdays 12:00 - 1:00 pm
This Sr. B Group Piano class continues piano instruction for the older beginner using Faber 's - Lesson Book 1! Students will build upon earlier concepts such as technique, expression, articulation, and music notation! This book is included with the cost of the class

Act! Dance! Sing! (5.0 - 6.11)
Saturdays 10:00 - 10:45 am
The dynamic world of musical theater is explored in this introductory skills-building class. Students develop the basics of singing, dancing, and acting using songs and choreography from a wide range of popular Broadway musicals in a supportive environment. Students learn stage directions, basic dance steps and terminology, healthy vocal production techniques which include proper breathing, matching pitch and singing in an ensemble. Family and friends are invited to a performance at the end of the semester, Saturday January 30th, in the BMS Playhouse!
Rising Stars! Let's Make A Play (7.0 - 9.0)
Saturdays 11:00 - 12:00 pm
In this class, students will focus on the core areas of theater performance and playwriting. Students develop theater skills such as creating dialogue and plot, developing characters, honing stage presence, and growing in their emotional, vocal, and physical expression. This is a collaborative class, focused on kindness, openness, and empathy, which builds and develops an ensemble mindset that will benefit students on and off the stage.
Fall Musical Theatre Workshop
(Ages 8-14)
Saturdays 11:00 - 1:00 pm
Students will hone their performance skills by studying and performing pieces from famous theatrical work that will result in a public performance, fully memorized and blocked. Shows are October 24th and January 30th show
Ensembles
Experience the thrill of playing in a group with regular performance opportunities through Brooklyn Music School's various ensemble options from Classical, to Rock, to Jazz!
Please note that all ensembles are a year-long commitment (Fall - Spring, and ensemble enrollment in ongoing throughout the year).
Private lesson students receive one 60 minute ensemble and Music Theory class free of charge!

Classical Ensembles
We offer Youth Choir, String Orchestras, and Woodwind ensembles.
Rock Bands
The BMS Rock Bands offer youth musicians the opportunity to participate in a collaborative, high-level, individualized rock band.
Jazz Ensembles
The BMS Middle School and High School Jazz ensembles give students the opportunity to work with professional jazz musicians and explore the tradition of jazz.
