Classical Ensembles
Explore the tradition of classical music in one of our ensemble offerings. These ensembles give private lesson students the opportunity to take their solo practice into the ensemble setting.
*All BMS ensembles are free if a child is enrolled in private lessons!
String Orchestra i (Ages 6-12)
Wednesdays 4:00pm - 4:45pm, 9/10/2025 - 6/17/2026
This beginning ensemble is for young string players looking for a supportive group ensemble environment. Students will work on technique, communication, musicality, and sight reading. Some previous knowledge/skill is required (approx. Suzuki Book 1 level minimum).

Youth Chamber Ensemble (ages 8-12)
Wednesdays 4:45pm - 5:30pm, 9/10/2025 - 6/17/2026
This ensemble is an ideal setting for intermediate students looking to explore chamber music repertoire. Students will work on technique, communication, musicality, and sight reading. Previous experience on the instrument is required (approx. Suzuki Books 3-4 level for string players).

Youth Choir (ages 9-15)
Wednesdays 5:30pm - 6:30pm, 9/10/2025 - 6/17/2026
The BMS Youth Choir provides young singers of all experience levels the opportunity to learn and grow while singing with their peers. In a supportive and encouraging environment, students practice healthy vocal technique, ear training, and solfege, and explore different musical concepts (harmony and part singing; language, expression, and diction; genre and form) through the study of contemporary and traditional repertoire.
Woodwind ensemble (ages 9 - 15)

adult chamber ensemble (ages 18+)
Tuesdays 6:30pm - 8pm, 9/9/2025 - 6/16/2026
Brooklyn Music School’s Adult Chamber Ensembles allow playing in a small group setting consisting of various combinations of instruments (including piano, woodwinds, and strings). Working with a professional teaching artist, students have the unique opportunity to develop and improve their current skills and technique, gain more ensemble playing experience, and expand their knowledge of chamber music repertoire. Pre-formed ensembles are also welcome!
