Michael Harrison, Ina Filip and Raga Cycle Project

The Raga Cycle Project, created with vocalist/composer Ina Filip, blends Indian classical ragas with lyrical and minimalist piano, multi-layered vocals, and electroacoustic textures. Michael Harrison’s adaptation of the ancient melodic science of raga to piano tuned in just intonation with Ina Filip’s dhrupad-style techniques create a unique and unprecedented sound world.

Michael Harrison (piano), Ina Filip (vocals), Elliot Cole (keyboards), Mir Naqibul Islam (tabla), and Hansford Rowe (fretless bass).

7:30 PM

Sarah Hennies and Tristan Kasten-Krause

The duo of Tristan Kasten-Krause and Sarah Hennies works collaboratively to compose large-scale compositions employing drones, psychoacoustic phenomena, and extended techniques on double bass and an array of gongs, bells, vibraphone, and other percussion instruments. Their work includes delicate interplay of high-pitched tones, deep resonances, and patient, slowly unfolding extended durations that evoke a mysterious sonic landscape.

9:30 PM

Shoko Nagai and Satoshi Takeishi - VORTEX

VORTEX features Shoko Nagai (piano, accordion, analog synthesizers, electronics) and Satoshi Takeishi (playing a unique “hybrid set” consisting of both western and eastern traditional percussion instruments). Their blend of acoustic instruments and electronic processing create a vivid sonic world.
