Alexandra Koi
Voice
Alex Koi is a vocalist, composer, and improvising musician. She has dedicated her practice to exploring rainbows of musical possibilities and practicing a voracious effort of artistic innovation, expression, and collaboration. She has had the privilege of performing with many artists and musicians who inspire her at such esteemed venues as Lincoln Center, the Guggenheim Museum, Joe's Pub, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival and more.
With ten years teaching experience, she encourages her students to love learning and prize self-expression. She is passionate about music education for all, no matter age or ability, and believes in its power to transform lives. She was a Teaching Artist with Ann Arbor’s University Musical Society and has conducted guest artist workshops at Carnegie Mellon University, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, the University of Mary Washington, and the University of Michigan. In addition to teaching voice and piano, she enjoys working with her students on songwriting, music production and recording, and improvisation.
