Dance Department

Dance at BMS encourages children to express the joy of movement with some live music in a fun and safe environment. Come join us and dance like nobody's watching! For weekday dance classes for children 5 - 10 including Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap, and Contemporary, please check out our ARY offerings! Ballet I ( 5 - 7.6 YEARS)

Class Description: Students will learn basic ballet fundamentals in a fun and creative manner while developing musicality and rhythm. Students will actively engage in proper alignment and class etiquette for ballet while learning and utilizing ballet vocabulary. The class structure consists of floor work, center exercises, across the floor exercises and improvisation. This class will prepare students for more advanced and structured classes, and will conclude with a recital at the end of the semester on the BMS Playhouse stage!

BALLET II (6-8 YEARS)

Class Description: This class is for students who has had at least one year of ballet training. It is an accumulation from the primary ballet class. The class is structured with floor work, barre exercises, center exercises and across the floor exercises. The class will focus on alignment, building strength, flexibility, and technique. This class will conclude with a recital at the end of the semester on the BMS Playhouse stage!

JAZZ I (6.5 - 8 YEARS)

Class Description: This class explores the principles and art of jazz through correct alignment, body control, weight shift and rhythm. The class includes center work, stretching, isolations, turns, jumps and simple combinations and vocabulary. Students learn to apply technique in a range of dynamic and changing rhythms while acquiring an understanding and appreciation of jazz as an art form. This class will culminate with a recital on the BMS Playhouse stage!

Pre-Requisite: Ballet I
