The first lesson is paid up-front, with no commitment to enroll for the term.  It is designed to be an introduction between the teacher and student. If the student feels it is a good fit, we ask that the student commits to weekly lessons for the Academic Year: September 2018 through June 2019.

BMS provides students at all ranges of experience to work in a highly tailored, one-on-one environment with world-class voice educators across a range of musical traditions. Our faculty has trained at the most respected conservatories in the world and bring a wealth of professional performance experience that informs their teaching and technique.

We believe that the voice is the most intimate and powerful instrument that human beings possess and our pedagogical approach is at once approachable and rigorous. Students are encouraged to master essentials of music theory and ear training as a foundation to excellent musicianship.

Students will learn essential vocal techniques and performance, including:

  • Posture

  • Breath control

  • Maintaining a legato line

  • Diaphragm (its importance, location, accessibility, etc.)

  • Diction

  • Solfège

  • Song interpretation

BMS’s vocal instruction covers traditions including opera, musical theater, jazz, folk, gospel, blues and R&B. And we have successfully taught students ranging from beginners to professionals looking to sharpen their craft and advanced amateurs seeking to master new techniques and traditions.
