Creative Movers emphasizes fun, focus, and foundation. Combining dance vocabulary,
movement games, improvisation, and rhythmic exercises, Creative Dance gives students a
strong start for future Dance study. Students learn basic ballet and modern movements in an
encouraging environment designed to heighten their creativity. Benefits of participation are
greater kinesthetic awareness, coordination, focus, social skills, and self-confidence.

 

Ballet Fundamentals 

Ages 5-6

No Prior Dance Experience Required

Ballet Fundamentals introduces beginning ballet steps in an imaginative environment. Emphasis is placed on quality, musicality, and increasing physical awareness, as ballet vocabulary is presented in an approachable, creative manner. Ballet Fundamentals prepared dancers to progress to more structured ballet study with a strong sense of confidence as well as familiarity with ballet vocabulary and technique.

 

Ballet Prep 

Ages 5-6

No Prior Dance Experience Required; Min. of 1 Year Recommended

Ballet Prep encompasses the beginning study of classical ballet technique, with an emphasis on alignment for healthy, strong bodies, musicality, and movement quality. With an equal focus on creativity and technique, students learn how to harness their imagination to better perform ballet vocabulary. The end result is young dancers ready to advance in further dance study with a strong technical foundation and confidence in their ability to move, problem solve, and achieve success.

 

Ballet A
 

Ages 7-11

Building on the work of Ballet Prep, students increase their knowledge of ballet vocabulary to
the intermediate level. Ballet Prep is structured with barre work, center work, and across the
floor, the template students will continue to follow throughout their further dance study. Ballet Prep progresses the emphasis on alignment for healthy, strong bodies, musicality, and movement quality, while vocabulary is expanded. Additionally, student’s minds are animated by learning longer and more complicated combinations of steps, performed by memory. As in earlier classes, imagination and creativity are linked with technical achievement, creating
intelligent and self-expressive dancers. 

 

Kids Hip Hop Dance

Ages 7-13

No Prior Dance Experience Required

Saturdays at 12:00 p.m. $195.00 for the 14 week winter 2017 quarter.

This fun filled course for kids centers on the recreational study of Hip Hop dance. Geared for beginning, Hip Hop emphasizes creativity and individuality while promoting stamina, strength, fitness, and joyfulness. Utilizing popular, age-appropriate music, this class activates and inspires while directing energy towards positive outcomes.

Contemporary Dance A lets young dancers find the beat, move with the music, discover

dynamics, and increase their self expression. In an encouraging and energetic environment, this

class combines creative dance and diverse styles of classical modern dance to improve

kinesthetic awareness, focus, rhythm, and creativity. With an equal focus on imagination and

technique, students utilize modern dance concepts, such as space, time, and force, to achieve

specificity, quality, and confidence in their movement.

 

Contemporary Dance B

Ages 8-12

Tuesday 5:30 - 6:15

Wednesday 5:30 - 6:15

Contemporary Dance B lets young dancers find the beat, move with the music, discover

dynamics, and increase their self expression. In an encouraging and energetic environment, this

class draws from many styles of classical modern to teach beginning technique and grow

artistry. Class begins with a creative dance warm-up, which strengthens the body, increases

flexibility, hones rhythm and coordination. Center exercises improve basic dance craft. Moving

across the floor, dancers build on earlier elements and concepts to achieve specificity and

freedom. Class culminates in a longer phrase of choreography, where dancers will gently

challenge their technique and dynamic specificity, letting their inner artist soar.
