Mr. Crocker Coulson - Chair
Crocker is a Senior Advisor for investor relations and marketing to companies including Serco Inc., Spotify, and Marcum Berstein & Pinchuk. He was formerly the President of CCG Investor Relations, a global investor relations consultancy. Crocker graduated summa cum laude from Yale University and was a Fulbright Scholar at the Freie Universitat of Berlin, Germany.
While Crocker is not blessed with any musical talent whatsoever, he enthusiastically attends Brooklyn's operas and concerts, including classical, experimental, indie rock, American roots, and world music. His two children both study instruments at the Brooklyn Music School.
Mr. Jeffrey Tannenbaum - Vice-Chair
Jeff is the President of Tanner Bolt & Nut Corp. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of BMS since 2006 and while serving as President was responsible for overseeing a financial turnaround that preserved the future of this century old institution.
Jeff obtained his B.A. in Economics from NYU and then went on to get an Executive MBA from NYU's Stern School.
Ms. Beth Haddock - Secretary
Beth has enjoyed counseling and teaching on ethics, governance and legal issues for over two decades. Beth has served as a governance and ethics executive at AXA Financial, Brown Brothers Harriman and, most recently, at Guggenheim Partners. Beth has lectured at many financial services industry conferences and served as an adjunct professor at NYU and Mercy College. As a BMS trustee - she's furthering her dedication to education, her passion for music and a rich family tradition of serving the Brooklyn community.
Mr. Daniel Torockio - Treasurer
Dan is a Senior Accountant at Spotify and is a licensed CPA. Prior to joining Spotify, he was an Finance Manager at Time, Inc. and a Manager in Deloitte’s Risk Analytics group providing advisory services for financial information systems.
Dan graduated cum laude from The University of Pittsburgh and received his Masters of Science in Accountancy from DePaul’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business with distinction.
Dan began playing music at a very early age, experimenting with the piano, violin and trombone before picking up the guitar and eventually the mandolin. He is influenced by a wide variety of musical genres and is frequently attending concerts around the city. Music has played an integral part in Dan’s life and he is proud to be a part of an organization such as the Brooklyn Music School that encourages others to express themselves through performing arts.
Mr. Fredrik Anderson
Fredrik is a self-employed airline consultant who works primarily in Africa. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in International Relations. He lives in Fort Greene with his partner and their two boys, both of whom take classes at BMS.
Mr. Mark Braithwaite, D.D.S., M.A.
Mark is the Chief, Dental and Oral Medicine, VA Connecticut Healthcare specializes in periodontology and implant dentistry for the Department of Veteran Affairs.
He has held numerous positions in public service and private practice within the dental profession, including service at Harlem Hospital, Loyola University of Chicago Medical Center and Cardinal Bernadin Cancer Center and as Chief of Dental and Oral Medicine for the Department of Veteran Affairs, Connecticut Healthcare System. He has received grant funding for post-doctoral research in cellular and molecular biology, to study oncology and periodontal disease in oral health. Mark is also an alumnus of the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Mark has had a lifelong interest in jazz music and its history, having been a disc jockey for jazz programming at WKCR FM radio in New York City while attending Columbia University. He is currently studying saxophone at BMS and contributing his jazz muse as a senior member of the BMS Jazz Orchestra.
Mr. Daniel Hibbert
Daniel is a Vice President in the Business Architecture and Change Management group at Goldman Sachs, a leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firm. In his role, Daniel consults senior leaders of the firm on operating model design and optimization. He is an expert on driving commercial outcomes through integrated people, process, and technology strategies.
Daniel is also a Brooklyn-based visual artist who paints music-inspired pieces in a unique style which incorporates elements of pop-art, cubism, and expressionism. He appreciates all genres of music and studied both voice and piano while pursuing a mechanical engineering degree at Tennessee State University. The product of a musical family, Daniel is proud to be a part of the Brooklyn Music School, as he understands firsthand the importance of encouraging creativity and self-expression.
Mr. Chuck Moritt
Chuck is a Senior Partner and North American Leader of the M&A Transaction Services Business for Mercer, a global consulting leader in talent, health, retirement, and investments. Mercer is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies [NYSE: MMC].
Chuck has more than 30 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions and in the full range of human capital and related business issues that arise during a transaction. A thought leader in the industry, Chuck frequently presents to various groups on topics pertinent to M&A, and he is regularly quoted on M&A issues in notable periodicals.
Chuck is an avid jazz aficionado and plays saxophone, flute and piano. He is honored to be involved with the Brooklyn Music School and help further the mission of making music accessible to all so that students of all ages can express themselves, develop discipline that a carries into many of life’s aspects, and build strong and lasting relationships with others.
Ms. Sarah Nehmeh
Sarah is an Assistant Relationship Manager a Bank ABC, an international bank headquartered in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain with a primary focus on Trade Finance, Treasury, Project & Structured Finance, Syndications, and Corporate & Institutional Banking. She was formerly an Associate at PIMCO in Institutional Marketing, and an Analyst in Private Wealth Management at Morgan Stanley. She graduated cum laude from American University with a B.S. In Business Administration and B.A. in Economics.
Sarah has an active volunteer focus on young women empowerment, early childhood education, and multicultural diversity program. She is a cuddler in the mother-baby and NICU units at the New York Methodist Hospital in Park Slope, and a mentor at iMentor for a student at an inner New York City high school.
In addition to serving on the Board, Sarah studies cello at the Brooklyn Music Schoo, and she also plays piano.
Mr. Chuck Swartz
Chuck is a Management Consultant at Satori Consulting, a boutique firm focused on the pharmaceutical and financial services industries. He works with clients across North America, sharing his expertise in project management, data modeling, and process improvement.
Chuck is a life-long music enthusiast. He studied guitar and drums at Tulane University, while pursuing a degree in Finance and Business Administration. Chuck believes discovering new music to be his most rewarding pastime. He is honored to be a part of the Brooklyn Music School, helping others to realize the far-reaching benefits of music education.
Ms. Shannon M. Traylor
Shannon is an associate at KattenMuchinRosenman LLP, where she concentrates her practice in general corporate matters.
While attending law school, Shannon was a member of the Virginia Journal of International Law and its submission review board. Prior to law school, Shannon worked in the Washington, DC area for a nonprofit devoted to nuclear nonproliferation.
Ms. Jiyang Zhang
Ji is a Vice President in the Real Estate Securities Group at Neuberger Berman, a leading global investment management firm. In her role, Ji serves as a research analyst within a REIT-dedicated fund managing institutional and high net worth client assets. Prior to joining Neuberger Berman, she worked in equity research and M&A at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. She graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Finance and is a CFA charter holder.
Ji has a passion for all genres of music and studied flute and voice. She is honored be part of the Brooklyn Music School. She believes in making music accessible to students of all ages, as well as music as a valuable tool for character building and as an avenue for creativity and self-expression, particularly in children.
