This curriculum includes the basic fundamentals of tap (shuffles, cramp rolls, flaps, etc.) Students will focus on having control in the muscles of their feet, ankles and legs. The African origins and jazz elements will be included. Students will learn vocabulary related to the tap world. They will learn basic time steps and explore combinations taught by the teacher as well as some tap masters including but not limited to Gregory Hines, Savion Glover and Sammy Davis Jr. Class will begin with a set warm up that will progress over time. Movement will be introduced in the center and then short combinations will be taken across the floor. Students will end class exploring a given combination. By the end of the course students will have enough knowledge to create their own unique tap combinations.
