The Brooklyn Music School’s centennial celebrations mark an exciting time in our rich history and will culminate in a spectacular evening of live music on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 126 Saint Felix Street. Please join us as we rejoice and raise a toast to another 100 years of Brooklyn Music School with local artists, current BMS students, alumni, and members of the community.

Our History: Brooklyn Music School (BMS) is a (501c3) community performing arts organization, chartered by the State University of New York in 1912. BMS owns and operates an historic landmark building in Fort Greene, in the heart of the BAM Downtown Brooklyn Cultural District. Our facility includes private and group lesson classrooms, dance studios, and a professional 266-seat Spanish Style proscenium theater.

BMS is a family-oriented school reflecting deep roots in the community and an ongoing commitment to our mission. Children and adults continue to enjoy our classes and attend events in the Playhouse Theater, as they have for 100 years. BMS proudly boasts several third-generation students who take part in our enriching arts programs! Brooklyn Music School is delighted to have played a pivotal role in the lives of so many generations of Brooklynites.

Our Mission: The Brooklyn Music School provides access to the performing arts regardless of income, age, previous experience, or professional aspirations. In particular, we seek to help those whose artistic voices are least often heard.

How Can You Help? On this landmark anniversary and once-in-a-lifetime event, BMS is reaching out to generous donors, merchants, and businesses. We invite you to participate in several ways or to call BMS directly for more information:

·         Donation towards gala reception

·         Monetary contribution

·         Instrument donation

·         Scholarship funding for needy student

·         Sponsor school infrastructure/capital project

***Contributions are tax deductible.

Let’s support the Brooklyn Music School as it continues to provide music, dance, and artistic vibrancy to our community well into the next century!

Best regards,

Brooklyn Music School
