Dr. Sophia Genis

Dr. Sophia Genis received her Masters and Doctorate of Musical Arts from the Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow. Dr. Genis has received critical acclaim as a chamber musician in Russia where she was an Assistant Professor of Chamber Music in Alm-Ata Conservatory in Kazakhstan and laureate of the USSR Festival of Chamber Ensembles.

Since 1996 Dr. Genis has been a faculty member of the Brooklyn Music School where her students have won competitions at the Piano Teachers Congress of New York, NYSSMA, and Brooklyn Arts Council's Piano Competition for Young People. Dr. Genis' students have played in Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Steinway Hall, and Peter Norton Symphony Space. Starting in 2009 Dr. Genis became Artistic Director and Judge for the American Protege International Competition for students and professionals where winners perform at Carnegie Hall.
